Glass
In January I started taking classes at the Austin Museum of Arts art school at Laguna Gloria in Austin. I started with Botanical Illustration and Copper Foil Stained Glass. I've always been botanically inclined....a green thumb as well as in my art, and it was great to get back to drawing, painting, and learning some new techniques I've never worked with before. The Copper Foil Stained Glass class has been outstanding though! I have continued on to an Intermediate class, taking on slightly larger, more difficult projects. Below are some of the items I have created [from both classes] as well as pictures around the grounds of beautiful and historic Laguna Gloria......you can also visit my glass instructor Allyson Lipkin's site!
Laguna Gloria [the villa itself is undergoing major renovations. When complete I will add pictures of that as well.]:
Urns amongst the trees between Studio 1 and the Pottery Studio.
The fountain which faces the Villa
The steps leading to the laguna.
 Laguna Gloria
Artworks found around the grounds as well as scenic sitting areas near the Laguna
Concrete & glass sea dragon along the path // More sea creatures coming out of Laguna to a sitting area
 Metal Sculpture
Painted tiles along the deck fence behind the studios, which drops to the river

My creations:
GLASS
Four sides of a lamp shade still in progress.....the top halves are the same, the bottom halves on each side are different:
The clear glass on the left of the fleur de lis is the same as as right background
These two pieces are meant to go together, however, I'm not happy with the etching on the bottom piece and will be redoing it, staying with the blue and clear theme, instead of the grey.
Center piece is iridized over green
Hard to discern in these pictures but the angel wings are cobalt blue, the body iridized cream, the moon wispy blue, and the head is a "jewel" [more commonly found in fish tanks or vases] of iridized gold/amber.
A frame [a mirror was attached at one point] of scrap pieces of varying color
I have two additional pieces at work :
The flower is purple wispy and iridized cream on a background of semi-opaque streaky green.
Butterfly Iridized cream glass around another iridized gold jewel. The antennae are 8 gauge copper wire....God Bless Home Depot!!!
BOTANICAL CLASS
A tulip in water color pencils [water applied after much convincing from my instructor Marjorie Moore :)]
Iris in India ink and brush
 Rose in colored pencils
Radishes in colored pencil, graphite, and water color pencils
