In Memoriam
Donald W. Fugère {1926-1997}
Josephine M. Khollman {1925-1989}
Both of my grandparents were raised in Michigan, on the Upper Peninsula, in Delta county, in Escanaba. As children they lived only a few houses apart. Grampa was in the Air Force, and shortly after getting married in 1949, he was stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Atwater CA [now closed]. He was never stationed anywhere else, except when called to duty to serve in the Korean war. He retired as a Sr. Master Sergeant.
Ask me where I get my red hair and freckles, and I'll show you pictures of Gramma Jo. I even have her short, fat feet!! Her grandparents came to the US on a steamer ship from Berlin Germany, and were married by a Justice of the Peace shortly after arriving. My grandparents were my heroes growing up, and I miss them both very much.
Donald H. Sessions {1917-1960}
Dorothy A. Fairbanks {1921-1996}
I never knew my grandfather, since he died in a car vs train accident 13 years before I was born. He was my grandmother's first husband, and she went on to 4 more after him. We used to call her Gramma Colors, because at one point she was Mrs. Black, and another time, Mrs. Green. I didn't meet my grandmother til I was in my teens. She lived in Michigan until then, and my mother hasn't visited Michigan since she left it back in the 60's!
Both of my grandparents were from Michigan as well, both having been born and growing up in the Lansing area.
